Tarot Readings, Tarot Cards, and The Secrets
of the Tarot
© 1998 Starcana.com
For hundreds of years, there has been some
form of fascination with
the magical art
of the Tarot. There have
been numerous opinions
as to when and where the
Tarot had first
originated. Several countries
have been known
to claim this mystical
creation: Egypt, Italy,
France are just a few of
these. Many studies
mention that the Tarot
is dated back as far
as the thirteenth century,
but no one really
knows what was practiced
earlier as it was
not recorded. Tarot decks
were originally
used as playing cards.
Later they were banned because the pictures
and designs of the cards were viewed as evil,
and the "Devil's Work". Despite
where the cards originated from, or when
they came about...their mystery and accuracy
continue to intrigue us. Simply enough, the Tarot is a deck of 78
artistically, created cards.
Each deck has
it's own uniqueness from
professional designs
to amateur creations. The
design of the cards
can range from hundreds
of individual themes,
such as animals, fairies,
cartoons, religions
and mythologies, and so
forth. |

On a personal note - consulting Astrology
and the Tarot is not about foretelling one's
future, but instead about offering contructive
thinking and mental organization to know
one's options - before a plan of action.
When studying and consulting Astrology and
the Tarot - I offer individualized meanings
by telling a story of the specific path,
within the planets of the astrological charts
or the layout of the tarot card spread. I
share intuitive interpretations, and suggest
or encourage good judgement when you are
presented with a choice of alternative paths
- and making the right decision. I support
and encourage responsible decision-making,
as well as suggest and inspire the practice
of accountability for one's own personal
actions. Readings "spiritually enhance"
your decisions and reconnect you with your
soul and inner purpose. ~ Starcana ~

Explore Starcana Court Card Descriptions in the Tarot. Many Tarot readers choose their personal
deck from the "feel"
or "sensation"
of the deck, as well as from
the visual connection
to the artwork. The more personally
connected
one is to their cards, the better
the intuition
and interpretations. The Tarot
is not magical,
it is only a tool to access our
individual
intuition. Some readers also
choose to have
several Tarot decks in their
possession -
almost like a collection. |
|
One deck might be used for some sort of personal
study or meditation, another for public readings,
or others just because they are so beautifully
designed. As each and every deck is individual,
you can expect each Tarot reader to also
be an individual. Each reader has their own
"style" of reading. Despite the
style of reading, techniques or tools...
each will amaze you and help you to become
more certain of your next decision as well
as yourself.
Tarot cards are used to give, as well as
to receive, guidance and direction in one's
life. Many times they can be used to show
an "alternate" perspective to a
situation. Inside a Tarot deck are 78 cards - which
contain 56 Minor Arcana and 22 Major Arcana.
The word Arcana in Latin means "Secrets."
Therefore you have the Major Secrets and
the Minor Secrets. Each Minor Arcana card
signifies a particular situation from every
day life, whether it be: pain, love, loss,
decision-making, and etc. |
 |
The decision that you choose today,
will affect and change your tomorrow. |
|
|
Each of the Major Arcana cards are symbolic
representations of spiritual growth
and psychological
values. Like a set of regular playing
cards,
the Tarot has four suits. They are
known
as the Pentacles, Swords, Wands and
Cups.
These four suits also relate to the
four
elements: Fire, Air, Earth and Water.
Court
cards, similar to the Courts in a regular
deck of playing cards, are also included
in a tarot deck. Many Tarot readers
also
work with several "spreads"
or
"layouts". These help to
answer
specific questions, and to define events,
timing, important influences, important
people,
as well as show you the direction you
are
headed in, and what obstacles may be
in your
way.

Tarot cards are used to give, as well as
to receive, guidance and direction in one's
life. Many times they can be used to show
an "alternate" perspective to a
situation.
The cards are so incredibly personal it's
almost as if they appear to be your best
friend. They seem to know so much about you,
and the personal situations that have affected
you. They will tell you things that you don't
want to acknowledge, and at the same time,
they can help you to look at that situation
on different levels. The cards will enable
you to get to the root of the problem, without
including your emotions or ego.
What you should expect from a Tarot reading
is a sincere, caring reader who
will guide
you through personal changes
and offer you
choices to your next step. The
cards will
tell you a story of events that
have happened
to you during your life, as well
as the probable
outcome to various situations.
The Tarot
has been described as a mirror
to your higher
self. It's like looking at your
life, and
reflecting upon what you, as
a person have
been through, what you have become,
and what
you can change. |
 |
Tarot is not responsible
for making
your life work - YOU are. |
|
|
|
Excessive tension can influence a reading
tremendously. Keeping your mind clear will
open you up for fresh answers. Anything that
you may feel uncomfortable talking about,
mention to your guide. You may even want
to ask why you are uncomfortable. Don't be
afraid to ask questions, especially if your
time is limited. It's your reading! Readings may include information from your
past. Many people refuse to acknowledge
the
past, not realizing that the past defines
the future. Successful readings DO
connect
with past issues in your life. This
tells
us where there was a major change in
events
and the impact these changes made on
you
- like a chain reaction or domino effect.
The way the Tarot actually "works"
is by picking up on energy from past
choices
that "you" have made in life.
Unless
you know "where and when"
you made
poor choices, you will probably continue
to follow this cycle of difficulties.
An
example might be a person who is having
relationship
problems by bringing past issues into
the
present. While our past is never far
behind
us, we do not have to live in it.
|
Looking at one's past will help a Tarot reader
understand why you are having
specific problems,
why they tend to happen at certain
points
in your life, and why you have
a hard time
releasing these issues. At this
moment you
are striving to live in the present...
your
goals, dreams, and hopes will
be the strongest
during a reading. When a difficult
situation
occurs, you need to take a few
steps back
to see exactly where you changed
paths and
what choices were available at
that time.
Then we can find out exactly
how you arrived
in your current situation.
As we look into all the areas of your life,
we can see where you are headed.
We will
be able to view: obstacles you
are about
to overcome, who will be there
to help, and
who won't. Your new "values" will be seen,
including your habits, your emotions and
your logic. I feel this is the point where some would
consider this to be the "future",
and in one sense it is. The most important
thing to realize is that you have made many
decisions that brought you to where you are
today. You have always had control and you
have always had a choice. I like to think
that "knowledge is power". In the
defense of Tarot, I believe that if someone
knows how a situation might turn out in the
future...he/she would be able to make better
choices now. |
 |
Every choice that you have ever made,
created THIS very moment. |
|
|
Everyone has their own path in life, and
it is up to the individual to
make the best
decisions for themselves to find
happiness,
peace and love. There are many
decisions
in life, and each one we make
will lead us
down a different path. Some of
the paths
we find ourselves on, may have
blocks or
obstacles that we need to overcome.
Every
decision that you have ever made,
created
this moment. Even seemingly unimportant
decisions
affect your life in some way. |

Consulting the Tarot can be enlightening,
inspirational and spiritually
uplifting.
It's like changing the little
accidents in
life into awareness and understanding.
It
can be like putting yourself
in another's
shoes and looking at the cards
(or the situation)
at a level that you never might
have considered
before. There is no limit to
the growth that
is available to you.
There are people that are still frightened
by the power of the cards and
the knowledge
they bring. Some people believe
that occult
powers or negative energy controls
the cards
or the reader. Once again, the
Tarot is only
a tool and have no power left
with a reader.
The Tarot helps us access the
intuition that
we were all born with. The cards
can "seem"
to know future events or what
you are about
to do, but it is only influenced
by what
choices "you" have
made in life,
they just help to organize it
all for you.
Tarot is not responsible for
making your
life work... you are.
You must also understand that
readings can
and do change. You can change
the final outcome
to any reading, just by knowing
what to expect,
and then deciding how to make
improvements.
Use your tools and gifts to create
what you
desire. |
 |
Old habits die hard, and lead us to a nowhere path, while change leads us to growth.
|
|
Once your reading is over, it is your decision
for the next step that you take.
Your spiritual
advisor is there to give you
advice, using
both the Tarot and their intuition.
You may
choose to either acknowledge
the answers
that were given to you or choose
your own
path. You must do what feels
right for you.
The solutions to problems are
in the cards...but
remember; the cards are in your
hands. The
decision you make today, will
affect your
tomorrow. |
